SUMMARY:
Infor is establishing a new business unit called Local.ly. The VP of Local.ly will report to the CEO. The mission of Local.ly (a domain name we own) is to deliver localized statutory reporting, accounting, and tax content by country in a loosely coupled architecture across all applications. Local requirements are often a major constraint to upgrades and represent a complex, compliance risk for customers. It’s a costly, tedious job but required to operate in multiple countries. No one has done this well. The industry historically has left the bulk of this difficult task to customers and a loose federation of resellers and partners. Even supported localizations aren’t available with new releases until a year or more after general availability. Customers have to wait for new releases to uptake the localizations before they can deploy.
Infor will build these localizations as a service in the cloud and also deliver the same content in a managed appliance on premise. The goal is to deliver a higher quality service that is current at all times on legs and regs and covers more countries because we build it once for all applications. We will extract localizations, taxes, and reports from the core engine which allows us to build this content once and upgrade the engines with industry content more frequently. Upgrades will not break the localizations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The VP of Local.ly will work with expert organizations who track regulatory changes (legislative, tax, and accounting) to package those changes into rules and reports delivered as service once that works with all Infor applications instead of each group attempting to figure out these localizations separately.
In addition, since the architecture is built on web services, the localizations service will work against non-Infor applications as well.
The VP will also build a go to market organization that sells this service to the installed base and new customers by partnering with existing license organizations. The executive will also work closely with development and cloud organizations to drive the needed product changes in the Infor tax, reporting, and accounting architecture to support the delivery of the Local.ly service.
Local.ly is part of central’s broader strategy for CLIRTs (Customizations, Localizations, Integrations, Reports, and Taxation. Our goal is to move all of these functions out of the core into a loosely coupled architecture with the exception of those customizations we productize into the core. The VP of Local.ly will work closely with the VP of Upgrade/S since getting to a loosely coupled architecture is a strong catalyst for many customers to upgrade. Getting off monolithic applications that break reports, integrations, and localizations on every upgrade is a compelling value prop for many customers.
