POSITION: Software Developer
LOCATION: Tampa, Florida
SUMMARY:
The primary function of the ”Senior Programmer Engineer” is to ensure that his/her assigned development projects or bug fixes are effectively planned, prioritized, monitored and implemented, by utilizing technical expertise in the primary programming language to design, program, test and implement specific tasks.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ensure all published programming standards are used and implemented in assigned projects and tasks.
· Ensure software development projects, bug prioritization and resolutions meet established deadlines. These tasks are to be accomplished by determining requirements for product roll out, developing project plans, obtaining management approval, setting milestones, monitoring, and controlling as required.
· Develop and / or correct software products by specifying or determining required functionality. Design or re-design program structures, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting software development or bug correction steps and features.
· Maintain existing software products, by analyzing the software, identifying bugs and fixing problems by coding. Documenting fixes for Quality Assurance testing and for Technical Writer’s inclusion into current or new documentation.
· Research new developments, by analyzing customer requirements, and third party products to determine what enhancements should be included in the new release of software and design new software enhancements.
· Mentor or oversee as assigned other programmers, ensuring the methodologies used within the programmer group conform to company quality assurance and published programming standards.
· Provide technical support to other internal staff, by providing information on software operation and custom enhancements, supplying bug fixes and quotations for enhancements as required.
· Ensure all Corporate and Local policies are followed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
· Post Secondary School Diploma / Degree in Computer Science or closely related field.
· Six to ten years of Programming in one or more of the afore mentioned programming languages. Supplemented by advanced courses, seminars or training related to the ‘job requirements’ listed above.
Required Skills:
· Requires knowledge of the field of Computer Science, or related subjects.
· Expert ability to program in C++ and C or related programming language (in a communications application programming environment).
· Advanced knowledge of SQL database.
· Advanced knowledge of VB.NET for software development.
· Web experience (PHP, HTML, Java or ASP.NET)
· Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office tool set (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project & Outlook).
· Requires leadership skills to provide guidance to other team members.
· Requires the ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
· Requires the organizational skills to ensure deadlines are met.
· Requires written and oral communication skills to explain technical concepts.
· Requires advanced problem solving skills to find solutions for a variety of problems.
· Requires decision making skills to make decisions in accordance with established policies.
preferred skills & KNOWLEDGE:
· Minimum five years of Programming experience, supplemented by advanced courses in Computer Programming, Analyst and Design.
